From an idea to your school
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a standard way for AI assistants to use other apps. The SchoolMaker MCP server makes your school one of those apps. Once connected, ChatGPT or Claude can read your courses, students and community, and make changes for you, with your own SchoolMaker account and permissions.

Connect your school
You need a SchoolMaker school and an owner or administrator account. You sign in to authorize the connection, so there is no API key to create.
https://schoolmaker.co/mcp
Copy the server URL above, then follow the steps for the assistant you use.
On Claude Team or Enterprise, an organization owner first adds SchoolMaker as a custom web connector in the organization settings.
On the SchoolMaker page that opens, log in with your owner or administrator account. Select the school you want to connect, check the account shown, then click “Allow connection”.
Ask “List my courses.” Check the result, then try one of the prompts above. Open your SchoolMaker school to review any content you create or change.
Menu names in ChatGPT and Claude can change, and your AI provider may require a plan that allows custom connectors. Other AI tools can connect if they support remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. You’ll find this URL and the same instructions in the MCP tab of your school settings.
Already have a school? Use your existing account.
You choose the work
The connection is tied to the account and school you authorize. SchoolMaker checks your current permissions and your access to the requested content for every action.
Ask for new courses and offers to stay unpublished. Edits and deletions can take effect immediately, so keep your AI tool’s approval prompts on for actions that change your school.
Remove a connection from the MCP tab of your school settings. Your assistant can read what your account can see, including your SchoolMaker messages, and that information is processed by your AI provider under its own terms.
What you need to know before connecting your school.
You can use a connected AI assistant to create and edit courses, modules, lessons, quizzes and forms; look up students and their progress; read and write community posts; and set up offers. Available tools depend on your account permissions, and your school’s usual limits still apply.
Yes. SchoolMaker gives step-by-step setup instructions for both ChatGPT and Claude. Other AI tools can connect if they support remote MCP servers over HTTP with OAuth sign-in. Your AI provider may require a plan that allows custom connectors.
School owners and administrators can authorize the connection. Students and moderators cannot connect yet. Sign in with the team account for the school you want your assistant to use.
No. Add https://schoolmaker.co/mcp to ChatGPT, Claude or another compatible AI tool, sign in to SchoolMaker and allow the connection. There is no SchoolMaker API key to create or paste.
Yes, where your account has permission. Ask for new courses and offers to remain unpublished while you review them. Do not assume every action creates a draft: edits and deletions can take effect immediately. Review write requests in your AI tool before approving them.
Start a 14-day SchoolMaker free trial to create your school, then connect with your owner account. Your school’s plan limits still apply. Your AI assistant is a separate service with its own access requirements and possible costs.
MCP lets an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude use SchoolMaker tools from a conversation. The API connects SchoolMaker to scripts and other software. An AI Coach answers your students’ questions inside your school. Choose the connection that fits the work you want to do.
